Tyke 1 Records Season Opening Win

The Georgian Shores Tyke 1 Lightning opened the season November 29 at home with a
5-4 win against Flesherton

The Lightning got on the scoreboard early in the game with a quick unassisted goal by Jake Murray at 8:36 in the first period. As Flesherton was recovering, Murray again found the back of the net three minutes later putting the Lightning up by 2.

Flesherton rebounded and slipped the puck past goalie Liam McIntyre less than a minute later, cutting the Lightning lead to 1.  Both teams had several scoring chances that were foiled by the goalies at both ends of the rink before Flesherton managed to tie the game early in the second period.

At 3:07 in the second, Luke Jack found the back of the net on a pass from his brother Evan to put the Lightning in the lead once more. Flesherton quickly countered with just over one minute left in the second, bouncing a puck up off the stick of the Lightning goaltender to tie the game again.

The Lightning came out strong in the third with Murray scoring his 3rd of the game at 7:02 assisted by Jori Tippin. The Lightning would score once more 16 seconds later with Murray getting his 4th of the game unassisted. Flesherton would slip one more past McIntyre at 3:57 but the Lightning defence would not allow another scoring attempt after that.

Strong back checking throughout the game by Drew Acres, Noah Ostermeier-Johnson, and Reid Smith stopped may opposing players before they crossed the Lightning blue line.  At the other end, fore-checking by Natalie Book, Jaden Slowiak, and great passing by Hudson Potts, and Aidan Ritchie all combined to lead to the win.

A great start to the season for the a Tyke 1 Lightning.
