Bantam Girls Post Back to Back Wins
The Georgian Shores Lightning Scenic Caves girls’ bantam hockey team started a victorious home and home series with the Owen Sound Ice Hawks on November 19th at Beaver Valley Arena.

Three minutes into the first game, Hailey Stevenson scored off a rebound to make the score 1-0 for Georgian Shores. Early in the second period, Rachel Findlay’s shot created a rebound for Karissa Bowins to score another goal for Lightning. Closer to the end of the period, Payton Weir passed the puck to Kailey Gyles making the score 3-0 for Georgian Shores. Forty-Five seconds later Caitlin Boyd assisted Makenna Giles ending the second period 4-0. In the third period, Weir made a pass in front of the net to Gyles scoring another goal for Lightning. A minute later Owen Sound skated down the ice scoring their first goal of the game which made the final score 5-1 for Georgian Shores.

Sunday, November 23rd Georgian Shores travelled to Owen Sound to play the Ice Hawks again. Half way through the first period Giles assisted Boyd scoring the first goal of the game, making it 1-0 for Lightning. Less than a minute after Owen Sound tied up the game 1-1. Early in the second period, Bowins shot the puck making a rebound for Findlay to score. Later into the period, Boyd assisted Findlay scoring another goal making the score 3-1. At the end of the second Georgian Shores was shorted handed but Findlay found her way through 4 Ice Hawks trying to trap her behind the net and wrapped it around the net and past the Ice Hawks goaltender which made it 4-1 for the Lightning. Early in the second period Jayli Brown took a shot from the point beating the Ice Hawks goalie. Five minutes later Owen Sound scored another goal on Meagan Swanson to make it 5-2 for Lightning. Shortly after Devyn Cochrane assisted Giles making the final score 6-2. Georgian Shores will be hosting Owen Sound one more time Friday, November 28th.
