Georgian Shores Lightning Scenic Caves girl’s bantam hockey team
hosted the West Grey Warriors at the Meaford Arena on Friday, December 12. Both teams traded numerous shots on each
other’s goaltenders throughout the first period, neither team could find the
back of the net.
Several shots even rang off the posts but to no avail. Early into the second period, birthday girl Devyn Cochrane, set up Rachel Findlay, both from Collingwood, putting the Lightning up 1-0. Lightning goalie Meagan Swanson, from Meaford, held the Warriors scoreless throughout the game narrowly escaping a crossbar zinger that went behind her head but not into the net! West Grey managed to tie the game late in the third period. Near the end of the game Kailey Gyles had a breakaway with a chance to win the game for the Lightning, but was denied by the Warrior’s goaltender. Final Score 1-1. The Lightning will host the TCDMHA Rebels from Chatsworth on Friday, December 19 in Meaford.
