Bantam Girls, 2014-2015 (Georgian Shores Minor Hockey)

The Girl’s Georgian Shores Lightning Scenic Caves bantam hockey team hosted the Western Ontario Athletic Association year end tournament at the Meaford arena on March 7 & 8.  The Lightning were one of 3 teams in the group 2 pool which included the TCDMHA Rebels and the Saugeen Shores Storm.

The Year End Bantam Girls Tournament will start at 9am Saturday March 8 and wrap up with the​ Maroon Group Championship game on Sunday at 1:45 and the White Group Championship game at 4:15

The Girl’s Georgian Shores Lightning Scenic Caves bantam hockey team began the last 3 games of the Provincial Playdowns this past week.  The Lightning hosted the Owen Sound Ice Hawks in Thornbury on Wednesday, February 25.  The Lightning pressured the Hawks right from the opening faceoff controlling the play through most of the game.  Early in the 2nd period, Karissa Bowins of Meaford opened the scoring for the Lightning to take a 1-0 lead.

The Girl’s Georgian Shores Lightning Scenic Caves bantam hockey team took to the road this past week for playdowns in Durham and Walkerton.  The Durham game was on Wednesday, February 18 against the West Grey Warriors.  The Lightning played short 3 players that were out with injuries or illness.  The Lightning held their ground with a score 0-0 after one period.

The Girl’s Georgian Shores Lightning Scenic Caves bantam hockey team began the Provincial Playdowns against the South Bruce Otters on Friday, February 13 in Meaford.  The first period started as a Friday the thirteenth nightmare for the Lightning when the Lightning goal tender, Meagan Swanson of Meaford, was beaten 30 seconds into the game with a screened shot.  4 minutes later, the Otters had a shot stopped by Swanson, but capitalized on the rebound to take a 2-0 lead.  At this point it looked like it was going to be a rout by the Otters.
